Sixth Street Viaduct Project

Urban Strategy Group is working with the City of Los Angeles and CH2M HILL on strategic community outreach for replacement of the Sixth Street Bridge, including pedestrian and bicycle linkages from Boyle Heights to Downtown Los Angeles. Our work includes coordinating and facilitating community outreach meetings, and working on the transportation / intersection improvements / mobility issues related to this project, including bike and pedestrian access and connectivity to the Los Angeles River Master Plan and Bikeway. As part of our services, we have developed a website and social media presence on behalf of the City’s Bureau of Engineering leading this project.

Our team coordinates all logistics and outreach for public meetings for the City including development of flyers, flier dissemination, promotion on various mediums, traditional outreach, translation services, equipment rental, documentation of meetings, and much more. Currently, we are managing communication and meeting facilitation of demolition work as necessary.

More recently, we helped champion the closure of the 101 Freeway to facilitate the safe demolition of a portion of the Sixth Street Viaduct. This past campaign required advertisement, door-to-door notification, community meetings, and media engagement. Our work entailed leading face-to-face meetings to communicate traffic detours, impacts, and all construction related issues arising as a result from this demolition and construction of the new viaduct.
